Giuseppe Verdi
La traviata - online
The premiere
The story of a courtesan Violetta, who for the very first time in her life finds a true love, gets rejected and is also terminally ill, has been moving the opera audiences for over a century and a half.
The production of La Traviata in Szczecin takes the audience into the world of modern extravagance, where just like in a mirror the desperate emotional emptiness of contemporary people is reflected. Following in the footsteps of such films as The Devil wears Prada or Pr?t-?-porter of Altman, Znaniecki builds Violetta?s surroundings like a grand fashion show of Vogue, where emotions are less important than the latest trends and business relationships. In the abundant interiors of a Parisian hotel, surrounded by parties and red carpets, spectacular ?haute couture? costumes, Violetta will show one more time her contemporary face and will become the symbol of criticism of present-day relationships.
?The extravagance and splendour of the show, combined with original stage solutions have emphasised the capabilities of one the most modern music theatres in Europe nowadays.?
Dziennik Teatralny
?Znaniecki blurs the boundaries between the presented world and viewers when the colourful procession of participants of the show invades the auditorium to organise a photo shoot, a true selfie orgy.?
